T.J. Maxx has iPads
The big iPad news of the week is that the entry level 16GB WiFi iPads can now be purchased at T.J. Maxx, and Marshalls for $399. This price is at $100 off the listed price of iPads anywhere else, even the Apple store. As a matter of fact, a refurbished iPad from the Apple store costs $449.
T.J. Maxx and Marshalls (both part of the TJX company) were given limited amounts of the iPads to sell. Many are saving the bulk of their inventory for Black Friday, and some just could not wait. If you want to purchase an iPad at this discounted price, you should call your local store first to make sure they are available.
T.J. Maxx is not telling which stores are carrying the iPads. 9 to 5 Mac reports Steve Jobs sent an email in response to questions about the price reduction, saying that T.J. Maxx is not an authorized iPad reseller. This means iPads may not be at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls for too much longer if Stevie J has anything to say about it.

This bargain basement pricing of the iPad suggests that a new iPad is in the works for Quarter 1, 2011. The rumors have been making the news for the past few weeks. One reported rumor is that the iPad 2 commercial has already been completed.
It is confirmed that Apple did film an iPad commercial a few weeks ago, but they used the current iPad to film it. This information suggests that if Apple did film an iPad 2 commercial with the current iPad, the dimensions of the iPad 2 are the same. The actors in the commercial had to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so no one is saying if the commercial was for the new iPad or not.
There are numerous reports that Apple has enlisted several overseas companies to make parts for what is being dubbed as the iPad 2. These rumors are on par with Apple’s annual release schedule for each device. Following last year’s schedule, the new iPad 2 will be announced in January and released in March.
Desired iPad 2 Features:
- Front facing camera for FaceTime
- Increased memory options
- Dual network capabilities (GSM and CDMA )
Apple is clearing its inventory to make room for the new iPad and at $399 it’s a steal; no other tablet can offer the value for the price. New iPad owners can have their iPads just in time for the new iOS 4.2 release by the end of November.
