The 2nd annual Naples International Film Festival (NIFF) is pleased to announce that the festival’s closing ceremonies took place at the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 7:00 pm.
Festival winners announced included:

The Audience Award – The River Why”
The Rising Star Award – Brett Haley, Director, “The New Year”
Indie Spirit Award – “Drawing With Chalk”
Director’s Choice – “Ten Stories Tall”
NIFF also presented legendary voice-over artist Peter Thomas with “The Voice of the Arts” award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the arts in Naples. Peter never hesitates to use his voice to give voice to the arts in our community.

especially, Peter Thomas’ enormous contributions to the arts. He is a genuine talent and Naples
is fortunate to have Peter championing the arts for all of us.”
Peter Thomas has one of the most recognizable voices in the English language. He is the narrator of many television programs broadcast throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and United Kingdom as well as anywhere that English language documentaries are aired.
Cynthia Adler, an award-winning writer, performer, voice-over artist, environmental activist was also a featured guest at NIFF’s Closing the where she performed and awarded Peter Thomas with the “Voice of the Arts” award from NIFF. Cynthia Adler:
“I have been Peter’s friend and colleague for over 30 years. I am thrilled to be able to help honor him tonight.”
In addition to the weekly Forensic Files program on Court TV, his voice is heard on Discovery, the History Channel, ABC and PBS, in the USA, as well as CBC in Canada, the BBC in the UK and on Australian TV. Over the years, he has also been as the spokesperson for IBM, Exxon, Revlon, Buick, Coca-Cola, American Express, Tropicana, Visa, Alaska Airlines, RCA, Visine, Listerine, Pacific Life and many others. He has been the spokesperson for many political campaigns from regional to national levels as well.
Peter Thomas’ credits include of the Academy Award-winning documentary One Survivor Remembers, and the Oscar nominated, Children of Darkness. Before embarking entirely on a career in narration and commercial voice-over work, he spent 12 years at CBS, first as a staff announcer and then as newscaster on CBS TV in New York City.
Peter and his wife, Stella, split their time between Greenwich, Ct. and Naples until several years ago, when, they moved permanently to Naples. Thanks to advancements in recording technology, Thomas remains busy recording Forensic Files, documentary narration for TV and radio, corporate commercials and political ads.
Thomas was recognized as the 2004 Humanitarian of the Year by International College for his contributions to non-profit organizations. Thomas shares his presence, his voice and sometimes appears on-camera for many causes including: United Way, Red Cross, Child Protection Team, St. Matthew’s House, Youth Haven, the Naples Winter Wine Festival and many more.
Among the many honors he has received, the one he cherishes most, perhaps, is being the recipient of International Television Association’s (ITVA) first Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. In 2004, Thomas made his first stage appearance in many years in the role of The Storyteller in the play Killing Mr. Watson.
