For all those who believe that Thomas Jefferson was simply a deist….they are sadly mistaken. It is my honor to share the end truths with you here in San Antonio.
Also, I want to share a great song with you, as a portion of this today. Do take about 3 minutes to view this. It will be worth sharing with others, if one has FaceBook or MySpace. Encouragement to you who will not or who hesitate out of worry of what will others think of you, should you choose to do this. The reality is the people around you matter not to that extent, but those who willingly laid their lives on the line in the name of God and Country are who matter more. Ultimately God expects us to stand for good and to shun evil at each intersection of life. We have a duty to God and our fellow citizens to stand against oppression and destruction of liberties and God derived freedoms. Do what each of you have to do to preserve this nation for the next generation, as they are all dependent upon you, the ordinary American citizen, today.
Jefferson has been in the angst and throws of the liberal left so much because some of his quotes contradict one another over time. The older he became, the more Christ centered he became. It is really hard to argue with some of the following:
‘The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend to all the happiness of man.’ ~ Thomas Jefferson
‘Of all the systems of morality, ancient or modern which have come under my observation, none appears to me so pure as that of Jesus.’ ~ Thomas Jefferson
‘I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus.’ ~ Thomas Jefferson
‘God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.’ ~ Thomas Jefferson (excerpts are inscribed on the walls of the Jefferson Memorial in the nations capital) [Source: Merrill . D. Peterson, ed., Jefferson Writings, (New York: Literary Classics of the United States, Inc., 1984), Vol. IV, p. 289. From Jefferson’s Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII, 1781.]
All of these quotes can be verified at this link.
Two additional quotes that are from Mr. Jefferson are also important.
One is: ‘I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.’ ~ Thomas Jefferson
One has to do with our nation and the importance of separate powers is this one, “The States can best govern our home concerns and the general government our foreign ones. I wish, therefore … never to see all offices transferred to Washington, where, further withdrawn from the eyes of the people, they may more secretly be bought and sold at market.” ~ Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to Judge William Johnson, 1823
Have a great week, San Antonio, see you next week. :)
