The past weekend was a victorious one to be celebrated by both men’s college basketball and NHL fans alike. The #1 Duke Blue Devils (10-0), UNC Tar Heels (7-3), and the NC State Wolfpack (6-3) won in their respective homestands on Saturday. The Carolina Hurricanes (12-12-4) came home with three out of a possible four points as they travelled to play the Dallas Stars (2-1 SO loss) and the St. Louis Blues (2-1 SO win). The upcoming weekend will not be short of action and activity for all to take in throughout the Triangle.

During this busy time of year, don’t forget to appreciate what the area has to offer sports fans as the next few weeks are busy ones for men’s and women’s college basketball. On the women’s side, both the #4 Duke Blue Devils (11-0) and #10 UNC Tar Heels (10-0) are undefeated while the NC State Wolfpack sits with a 5-6 record. All teams will be competing in the upcoming week against top-quality opponents.

NHL action in Raleigh returns on the weekend
The Hurricanes travel to play the Florida Panthers (13-15-0) and Atlanta Thrashers (17-11-3) on Wednesday and Thursday night. The Hurricanes aim to keep the momentum high on the road before coming home to host the Anaheim Ducks (16-13-4) on Saturday night at the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC. Area fans should take the opportunity to make a day of it on Saturday by skating at the Winterfest Outdoor Rink in downtown Raleigh and then watching the ‘Canes take on the Ducks at night.
