It is not uncommon to get stuck in a beauty rut every once in a while but there’s no shame in it, it happens to even the best of us. Sometimes it’s ok to stick with the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” policy, but other times it’s more fun to go out on a limb and try something new. For those of you who are ready for something new here are a few suggestions:
If you usually use St. Ives Apricot Scrub or the equivalent, next time try L’Occitane Brightening Smoothing Exfoliator. L’Occitane is an all natural skincare line from France (the French are amazing at skincare). Their scrub will be somewhat similar in feel to what you are used to but it will in fact be much much gentler on your skin. And besides the scrubby granules themselves, L’Occitane has nurturing essential oils that will benefit your skin. It’s a win win situation! You can find it at Select Sephoras or Connecticut L’occitane Boutiques such as the one in South Windsor.
If you like lash-lengthening mascaras such as Maybelline’s Stilletto Lash, you’re going to love Lancome’s Oscillation Vibrating Infinite Powermascara. Stilletto is pretty awesome but The Oscillation will take your lashes to truly dizzying heights and even offer a tad bit more volume to boot. Any major department store chain will have the power of oscillation.
If you normally de-puff your eyes with Clinique All About Eyes Depuffing Serum or something similar, next time try Bliss Baggage Handler Eye Gel. It doesn’t have that cooling metal roller ball but if you keep it in the fridge you will find that it has twice the cooling and de-puffing action that you’re accustomed to. You can find the awesome Baggage Handler at the Westfarms Mall Sephora or at the Bliss website http://www.blissworld.com/
If you are a die-hard Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy fragrance fan, try expanding your fragrance wardrobe to include Michael Kors Very Hollywood. It has similar white floral notes but also has refreshing vetiver as a base note. And if you are already a Very Hollywood fan next time try D&G 18 La Lune. It has even fainter hints of white floral but is still sultry enough to be favored by the likes of Angelina Jolie. If you are looking to try all three suggestions, Sephora Westfarms will provide one-stop shopping.
If you’ve always used high-pigment eyeshadows such as L’Oreal HIP you would also enjoy the rich velvety texture of Smashbox eyeshadow. There is an extensive array of exquisite colors and you’ll find that the shadow wears well all day long because it is a professional brand designed specifically for photo shoots. Your local Ulta (North Haven, Manchester, Avon) is the go-to spot for Smashbox.
So take note intrepid beauty mavens, and when you feel ready for something new go out there and buy buy buy!
