An unique way to welcome the New Year can be found on the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad’s New Year’s Eve Celebration Train on Friday, December 31 in Nelsonville, Ohio. Nelsonville is located 56 miles southeast of Columbus and is 201 miles from Cleveland; approximately a 3 hour, 22 minute drive.
New Year’s Eve Train Scheduled for a 10:30 p.m. departure, passengers on the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad’s New Year’s Eve Train will be treated to food, a train ride on a diesel-powered vintage train and even fireworks as they ring in the New Year. Passengers can choose to ride in a car serving wine and cheese or in a car serving pizza and Pepsi.
Seating on the train is on a first-come, first-served basis so it is recommended that you arrive early. Fares for the wine and cheese seating are $35 for adults and $30 for seniors 60+. Fares for the pizza and Pepsi car are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors 60+ and $15 for children 3-12. Children under 3 are free but must sit on a guardian’s lap.
Advance reservations are required and must be made by December 29. Tickets purchased online will be held at the depot and must be picked up 30 minutes prior to the departure of the train. The train does have access for people with disabilities.
