Danica Patrick finished her NASCAR Nationwide series debut season at Homestead-Miami Saturday.
In her first season in NASCAR, Patrick had her ups and downs. Saturday’s Ford 300 contained a mixture of both.
Patrick started a career high fifth, and for the first time since she began her foray into NASCAR’s Nationwide Series she led laps; four total. And while they were under caution Patrick later hoped to race her way forwards. In the end she did finish a career high 19th.
That finish however didn’t sit too well with Patrick as she blamed Brian Scott for keeping her pinned behind him and thwarting her efforts to move forward. So despite the positives Saturday, Patrick was none too pleased when she climbed from her racecar after the checkered flag.
“Why am I so upset?” Patrick said. “‘Cause I was working my ass off to try to get by that 09 car and I couldn’t get by. I’m not contending for wins so I’ve got to find the little victories and I’m mad. We qualified really well and there are a lot of positives, but I’m still mad.”
As for Scott he was racing for Rookie of the Year honors. He came up short as Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was able to finish fourth to claim the RoY title.
