There is much to be said for what we expect from the next wave from Congress after all of those who have been voted out of office, leave and go find something else to do with their lives. As someone who follows what happens in politics for being able to share it weekly with this Conservative news outlet and out of self interest, this lame duck session has been one of the lousiest on record for ‘We the People.’
San Antonio, what do you expect from the upcoming 112th Congress? We, as a people, should be able to expect that our legislators will listen to us when we speak to them, write them, and contact them, in general. They work for us. They seem to have forgotten, but without tax revenues from the people, of the people and by the people, they would have no salaries, unless they were paid for on borrowed dollars. Eventually though, it would still become time for the American people to be the ones who pay the piper.
While there is little more than gridlock that can or could or even will possibly be achieved by this new Congress and group of legislators, there is much to be said for gridlock. It will allow no one to ram through legislation that is harmful to the entire nation in the same way that Obamacare was thrust upon us. A Superior Court Justice, Henry E. Hudson, out of Virginia recently ruled that the individual requirement to obtain Obamacare is unconstitutional. This ruling should take precedent, yet will it?
His ruling should take precedent, as in it, he specifically states that this type of requirement goes beyond the reach of Congress and their ability to wield the commerce clause like a sword. Here is the text on that ruling.
So many things have happened in the most recent 2 years of American’s lives within the political sphere, as almost daily, more assaults to our freedoms and liberties continue to happen. It is pertinent to understand that this country is ‘Of the People, By the People, and For the People.’ This is not simply for those who get elected to power. Our Founders expected that we would remove from power all ‘leaders’ who act unconstitutionally, and we need to hold ourselves to this set of standards. It is imperative that we do.
Just today, our lame duck Senate voted to pass the START treaty, a maniacal treaty in agreement with Russia (who we simply cannot afford to trust), to reduce the number of nuclear arms both countries hold. Now, Iran is honestly a greater threat than Russia to the rest of the world, yet we make this agreement and refuse to look at the greater threat. Why is this? Is it because of money or fear? It has to be one or the other.
We have the Food Safety Act that was just passed this week, too, and it is another piece of legislation that our nation could have done completely without, in this writer’s opinion. It comes down to too much legislation of late, and gridlock will cause much less of it to occur. Gridlock sounds like music to the ears, at this juncture. Have a great week, San Antonio, and make the most of this Christmas. Be blessed.
