NBC isn’t airing a new Chuck tonight, and as a somewhat new (but diehard) member of the Nerd Herd, LA TV Insider Examiner is quite bummed about that. With so many finally in on Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi)’s secret and lending a helping hand on his missions, the drama has never been tighter and the quirks never stronger.
We are more bummed that new episodes don’t return to the peacock network until January 17th, though. What will we do without a Bartowski family Christmas?? Well, tide ourselves over with our favorite moments from the past few seasons, we guess…
This may be completely gratuitous, but below we have compiled a small collection of our favorite photos from the past few seasons to enjoy in the new episodes’ absence.
And once you’re done perusing those, we suggest a mini-marathon of the quintessential episodes from the past four seasons. How mini a marathon will depend on just how much spare time you find yourselves this holiday season, but to help make the selection, we suggest the following:
“Chuck Versus the Helicopter” – The second episode of the first season, this episode really showcased just how serious Chuck’s secret life as going to be when the doctor who programmed the intersect system comes to examine Chuck but ends up being a target in an explosion instead. Finding pieces of government-issued equipment in and around the burnt vehicle, Chuck is no longer sure who he can trust. Key scene? The dinner table when he thinks he’s being poisoned.
“Chuck Versus the Cougars” – When this fourth episode of season two originally aired, the hype was in large part around special guest star Nicole Richie. Why no love for Ben Savage?? But what makes this episode even more memorable is the fact that we finally, really get a look at Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski)’s past when Team Chuck have to go to her high school reunion to expose a nefarious plot.
“Chuck Versus The Ring” – Chevy Chase playing a Steve Jobs type who is out to ruin the world with his technology is intriguing, but the fact that there is a way to erase the intersect is even more so. And that it happens all while trying to get Ellie (Sarah Lancaster)’s wedding off without a hitch is the icing on the already ridiculous cake. Mmm, cake. Also, guys? After this one Chuck will know kung fu!
“Chuck Versus the Role Models” – Let’s face it, any time the show pairs the hapless, lovable Morgan (Joshua Gomez) with the growling Casey (Adam Baldwin), viewers are in for a good time. And this episode has all that ten-fold because Casey has to train Morgan to put his knowledge about the spy world to good use. And let’s just say while he tries to turn the Buy Moron into an agent, well, the Buy Moron tries his patience! Meanwhile, Chuck and Sarah get a look at their potential relationship future when working with the harried Mr & Mrs Smith spies. Swoosie Kurtz! Fred Willard! More great guest stars abound!
“Chuck Versus the First Fight” – After having received answers about his father, in the fourth season of the show, Chuck sets out to find the same ones about his mother. Here he gets another shot at a solo mission and actually manages to find his mother’s handler. But what makes this episode even better is that Ellie is finally doing a little investigating of her own!
