It’s Thanksgiving week. Some readers get to travel. Some readers get to stay in town. And some readers have family joining them in town. For those that are staying and/or having guests, here are a few suggestions to get you out and about in Charlotte.
November 22 & 23 – Music and movie geeks can take advantage of the buy one get one free sale at Manifest Discs. You must have a special coupon for this event, which can be found on Facebook.
November 24 – Families looking for something fun to do can head up to Salisbury for the 51st Holiday Caravan Parade. The parade starts at 3:00 PM, but get there early for parking and the chance to walk around and enjoy the area.
November 25 – If one parade wasn’t enough you can enjoy another one in Center City Charlotte at the Belk Carolinas’ Carrousel Parade. The parade route will head straight down North Tryon, starting at 10th St. and ending at the Levine Center for the Arts on South Tryon and Stonewall St. The parade begins at 10:00 AM.
November 26 – If botany is your passion head over to Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens from November 26, until December 31, from 5:00 to 9:00, PM and see Holiday Lights at the Garden. The trees and bushes will be decorated with more than 600,000 lights, and there will also be old fashioned trains, visits from Santa Claus, carriage rides, holiday carols, baked treats, and other holiday fun!
November 26 & 27 – History geeks can enjoy a Plantation Christmas at Historic Latta Plantation. Visitors will learn about Christmas in the 1860’s, learn about open hearth cooking, and meet a Victorian St. Nick.
November 28 – You may have seen them on PBS, but now you can see Celtic Thunder live at the Belk Theatre in uptown Charlotte. Enjoy their eclectic sounds that range from classical to modern, with beautifully harmonized group numbers and dazzling solo pieces.
Don’t just sit around this holiday. Get out and have some fun. Check back tomorrow and see what the Geeky Reader has picked as this week’s top releases. Better yet, become a subscriber and keep up with all the great geeky happenings in and around the Charlotte area.
