Wesleyan Cemetery is located at 4003 Colerain Ave. This like most cemeteries is haunted in the Cincinnati area and has a history that goes along with this haunting. The history starts with children who were buried at Wesleyan Cemetery underneath a Salvation Army Flag and a small white marble headstone. In September of 1900, there was a fire at the Salvation Army Orphanage down in downtown when the building went up in flames 6 children and a guy who tried to save his son and daughter were killed. The children were buried here in remembrance. The cemetery unfortunately is in a sad state of decay and the headstones were piled up haphazardly near trees. Some of these headstones have actually been swallowed literally by the surrounding trees. The mausoleums have been broken into and are now open. There have been many attempts to restore this cemetery.
The hauntings that have been reported are by the care taker mostly. He has been convinced that several of the spirits that haunt the cemetery are the children that were buried there by the Salvation Army Orphanage. The gates close around 6 p but the caretaker says that he has heard children playing late into the night. The caretaker has also seen children run behind headstones and disappear while looking for them. In the end he will always hear it but never find anything when he hears the children’s voices and laughter. Passersby will even heawr children scream from inside the cemetery. Sometimes dark shadowy figures can be seen walking through at night but no one is ever found.
