Last Tuesday evening, December 21, was the annual Holiday Hootenanny at Folk Festival with Lilli Kuzma – WDCB’s live Tuesday evening folk music program. A gaggle of folkies filled the studio, the green room, and the hallways with music, munching, tuning, munching, rehearsing, and a little munching.
As the WDCB studio on the College of DuPage campus has limited room, only the Bittersweet Christmas Band, Muriel Anderson, Jenny and Robin Biennemann, Tricia Alexander, Andrew Calhoun, Gilmary Doyle-Andrews, Sue Fink, Amy Dixon-Kolar, Patti Ecker-Sherman and Louise Brody, “Natural” Bob Holdsworth and Joe Wadz, Dean Milano, and Heather Styka we able to participate. Thanks also to all the volunteers who helped smooth things along, and Randy Styke for wrangling all the performers for the two hour program.
The finale consisted of twenty-something (number, not age) performers and pretenders (count me among the latter) who squeezed into the Folk Festival studio for the grand finale. To the fire marshall: you’re too late. We’re all gone now.
If you were listening on the radio or internet, you probably heard more of the program than most of us who, out in the hall, could barely hear the speaker over our own babbling and carrying on – and munching. Of course, you missed the impromptu sing along in the hall, led by Andrew Calhoun, accompanied by Dean Milano on standup bass, that lasted for another hour or so.
Thanks to Lilli for having us, for inviting an untalented pseudo journalist, and for provided all of the pictures included in the slide show.
Happy Ramakwanznukkahmass to all.
