Although Christmas is over and the New Year is right around the corner, the winter is long from over. There are still plenty of cold days ahead, which mean we need more warm brew and good tunes to sustain us for a while. As the end of the year winds down and you gear up for 2011, there are two winter theme albums that can make the remaining winter days much more enjoyable– both of which feature Brandi, of course.
The Hotel Cafe Presents Winter Songs from 2008 and the recently released JDRF Hope for the Holidays both feature Brandi, along with a melting pot of other great artists such as KT Tunstall, Priscilla Ahn, Weezer, and Collective Soul. Winter Songs features Brandi’s “The Heartache Can Wait,” which is beautifully melancholy; capturing the not-so-cheerful side of Christmas that so many of us can relate to. Let’s face it; this time of year can be depressing. Not to go all “Scrooge” on everyone, but this is the best sad Christmas song ever. If you are feeling nostalgic, miss your family or friends, or just need a good song to chill to by the fire, this is the song.
As you wait to ring in the New Year and anticipate the band’s next tour, grab a copy of one of these albums. The bucks you spend on the JDRF Hope for the Holidays album go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the money you invest for the Winter Songs album will give you a healthy dose of holiday tunes to last you for years to come.
