This drink is also known as Woo Woo Juice and belongs to the era of naming drinks with terms generally associated with Sex. Here are a few early printings of this drink:
SPIN – Dec 1988 – Page 73 Vol. 4, No. 9
“Tropical Woo-Woo – Fill rocks glass with ice. Add 1 oz. each of Peach Liqueur, imported vodka and cranberry juice. A tropical taste, he never thought he’d say “Woo-Woo” either. “
Newsweek: Volume 111 in 1988
“The taste of real fruit and real flavors, from DeKuyper® Thats the only way to make these drinks so Delicious. Woo Woo: 1 oz. DeKuyper Original Peach tree® Schnapps in a tall glass add vodka and cranberry juice.”
This drink was created along side the Fuzzy Navel and shortly after the Silk Panties. It is very likely this drink was named by DeKuyper seeing as ads appear nationwide in 1988 – 1989 and all claiming it is originally made with Peach Schnapps. Now, that we know who likely invented this drink, where did it get it’s name?
This drinks name derives from a popular song, however, the song itself is not titled “Woo Woo”. It was commonly called the “Woo Woo Song” But here is a printing of the actual title:
Jet – Sep 15, 1986 – Page 60 Vol. 70, No. 26
“You Should Be Mine” (The Woo Woo Song)”
This drink dates between September of 1986 – 1987 and contained at least as of then:
