I attended the Fair Tax meeting at Angie’s Subs on Tuesday, November 16th at Jacksonville Beach. The meeting was not only informative but insightful. Mark Gupton, Managing Director of the Florida FairTax Education Association, Inc., a seasoned authority on the subject, gave us the skinny on how this all works. Did you know the FairTax plan eleminates taxes on USED items. So, only a one time sales tax on new cars but when you sell it used, NO SALES TAX. Hmmm, how about used clothing I asked, “No, no sales tax on that either. Well that peaked my interest and I paid attention. How about “Untaxes the Economically Challenged” The FairTax if passed, touts an increase in the Employment Rate to a whopping 9.0% and Consumption to increase to 11.9% and real disposable income to increase to 11.8%. Zero Corporate Tax, zero personal income tax, zero payroll tax and my personal favorite, zero capital gains tax. What it comes down to is simple, 23 cents of every dollar goes to tax, you keep 77 cents of every dollar you earn. This applies to both goods and services. There is a webinar schedule for Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010, 8pm-9pm. that is open to the public. Just go to www.FairTax.or or www.FFTEA.org for more information.
