I was a bit skeptical about this game because they made it seem to good to be true. But I knew this game was going to be a challenge being that I have tried other Kinect games and they really get you moving.
So my husband and I purchased this game at Best Buy for $49.99 and on the way home we were psyched I even took a photo of the game and sent it to a friend so they can go out and purchase it. That is how psyched I was about it and it was still in that clear plastic wrap. Once I got home I popped it in to try it out.
Not only can you do this game in the privacy of your own home you can do any workout you want and when you want. Let me just say if you are like me and are easily embarassed about saying your weight in front of people then this is a game for you. Yes, in the beginning you have to set up your profile so be prepared to stand there while they scan you and you enter your weight for the game. You then have to do a workout test to see where you are physically.
At this point i’m already at “OMG! really right now?” Well you have to do it sooner or later so I did it. Yes it is tough but the game helps figure out what kind of workout you should work on base on your workout test so you can improve and retake the test again and see if you have improved. Once you complete the introduction you can pretty much see the different types of games, workout and classes they have set up for you. This is where the fun begins.
I enjoy their toning, cardio, and martial arts exercises. Two programs that enjoy is Perfect Legs and Butt and Skinny Jean Program. They are 11 sessions and around 20 minutes long which is not to bad but it gives you enough of a workout. I usually follow that with a martial arts workout, a game or two and a zen workout to relax. At the end of my workout I feel like I accomplish something great for my body.
I recently figured out that not only can you track your progress on your xbox but also online at YourShapeCenter.com. On the site you can see the progress of other people all over the world, send challenges to your friends, and they even have a Calorie Convertor on the site. It made me think twice about reaching for a cheeseburger after how hard it took to burn that much calorie.
Overall I rate this game 9 out of 10 because it gives you a workout, it is easy, and it keeps track of your progress. They have new updates and new programs for the games so be sure to check it out. Not to mention the achievements and bonuses you collect on the game is also a plus for those who wants to up their gamerscore. Why not workout your whole body not just your fingers?
If you want to check it out yourself purchase that game at Best Buy for $49.99, GameStop for $49.99/new or $39.99/used, or even Amazon for $39.99.
