Chesapeake Pagan Community Yule Celebration
Sunday, December 12th, 2010
Hard Bargain Farm
2301 Bryan Point Road, Accokeek, Maryland 20607
December 12, 2010, Sunday
Doors open at 2 p.m. (staff may arrive as early as noon)
Ritual begins at 4 p.m.
Join Chesapeake Pagans for our rousing, carousing Yule celebration, with a Solstice Ritual, swearing of oaths for the New Year, gift exchange, merry potluck feast, and mummers play. Help “Knight George” defeat the Dragon.
Please bring drums and instruments with which to make joyful noise, a feast dish to share with ten people, a gift to exchange if you wish, and $10 per person to help offset the rental. Children are free. We encourage festive garb!
Activities include Winter Solstice Ritual, Mummers Play, Swearing of Yuletide Oaths on the long staff (Twig), potluck feast, random gift exchange, and general merryment.
If you are interested in playing a role in our mummers play, you can see a copy of it at: www.Jesterbear.com/CPCholidays
Parts of the play will be handed out on site. Remember, this is an amateur mummers play and the most important thing is to have fun with it. (We already have a volunteer for the role of the Dragon!!)
Things for each participant to bring:
- Potluck dish to share with about 10 people
- Seasonal decorations
- Musical instruments
- Children and the young at heart may bring letters to old Father Yule
- Table decorations
- Clothing appropriate for weather (ritual and celebration will be indoors)
Please bring stuff to decorate CPC’s communal altar: a communal altar may be set up on the side. Please feel free to bring whatever items you feel are appropriate to the season, fresh greens, candles in containers, winter elves, Krampus dolls, teddy bears, deer, birdseed to cast outside for the birds, pomanders, lights, etc.
Please do not bring styrofoam; Hard Bargain Farm is a green facility and emphasizes recycling, reusing and composting. You may bring your own paper disposables, as well as washable utensils and dishes. We are lucky to have a full kitchen at this facility; there are some washable cups, dishes and utensils there.
Suggested contribution: $10 per adult to donate on-line, click here.
Hope you can join us!
Yuletide Blessings from Chesapeake Pagan Community!
